					Spruce Consulting A Mechanical Engineering Design Company
			Experience:		Our descriptions represent some very specific products and services but should not limit our scope of work to large scale projects only. We welcome any mechanical engineering design challenges, large or small. The F-22 Fighter has six control surfaces. Spruce Consulting was heavily involved in the design layout, manufacturing tooling, qualification testing and documentation checking of the servo-actuators that hydraulically controlled (fly by wire) these surfaces. The F-22 pilot ejection seat backpack was designed using Kevlar, rockets, drogue guns, detonators and other military hardware and was packaged in a compact envelope with “fly apart” capability. The Navy MK-5 Missile deployment system was designed, detailed and assembled by us using a novel pinned/bolted bulkhead design which reduced 120 man hours per unit. NASA, JPL and other satellite manufacturers have used Xenon thrust systems designed by us. The use of MEMS silicon etching allowed very small regulators and flow control devices. We were instrumental in developing Anodic bonding, silicon to glass. Spruce Consulting has designed manufacturing equipment since the mid-70’s. We built a machine that put Pringles potato chips into their tubes. The upper left picture belongs to a polyethylene pipe extruding company. Vacuum tanks, pullers, AC drives, coolant systems, etc. were all designed and drawn very quickly on the board to save the client money. We have been designing coal mining, material handling and agricultural engineered products for the past 30 years. Some of our CAD models, like the clutch shown above, kinematically move to show range of motion, i.e. brakes, levers and other important mechanical linkages. High performance racing products have recently fallen into our scope of work. An NHRA National Pro Stock drag bike champion uses a head casting designed by us. The motorcycle wheel shown is a new and improved patented Flat Track component designed and manufactured by our company saving 4.5 pounds per wheel. We have designed optical components used on lasers and photonics systems. Very small and compact Field Replaceable Units, for a slave laser, master oscillator and Q switch driver are being used by the new Chinese Intl. Airport Lidar system. Spruce Consulting has been designing and installing power plants, nuclear facilities, petro-chem, pipelines, drilling platforms, refineries and many other piping plants for over 15 years. We have proven experience estimating, bidding, procuring, installing and starting up these systems.
